Dr Maroun was a presenter at the RACGP: Integrative approaches to Women's Health, a workshop created to help and educate GPs on how to provide women with the best available evidence-based therapy for patients, and to make informed decisions regarding their treatment.
Dr Maroun was a fellow in research and published a paper on the relationship between irritable bowel syndrome and endometriosis. Dr Maroun presented the results of the research both nationally and internationally and won an award for the presentations. Dr Maroun is currently enrolled at University of Technology as a PhD student researching the role of complementary treatment of early cervical dysplasia and HPV. In Dr Maroun's private practice, they became aware of the gap between conventional and complementary paradigms which alienated some women from conventional management. This lead to self-made diagnoses, unsafe practices and delayed or missed serious diagnoses. Dr Maroun's mission is to bridge the gap.
