About Mr Patrick Goon
Mr Patrick Goon is a Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon practising at One Hatfield Hospital, with extensive expertise in the assessment and treatment of hand, wrist, and upper limb conditions. He combines both surgical and non-surgical approaches in managing a wide range of injuries and degenerative disorders affecting the hand and wrist. He obtained his medical degree and master’s qualification from the University of Wales before completing residency training in plastic surgery in the East of England. During his training, he developed a specialist interest in hand surgery and upper limb reconstruction. Mr Goon undertook advanced fellowship training in hand surgery, working alongside internationally recognised experts including Adrian Chojnowski in Norwich, Professor Henk Coert in the Netherlands, and Professor Del Piñal in Spain. He is European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS) certified and serves as an Approved Tutor for the British Society for Surgery of the Hand diploma programme. He currently works within the Hand and Wrist Unit at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where he manages a broad spectrum of upper limb conditions. He is also Director of the Lister–Utrecht Hand Fellowship Programme, a collaborative international training initiative with the University Medical Centre Utrecht focused on advanced hand surgery education. Mr Goon is recognised for his meticulous surgical technique, use of advanced reconstructive and microsurgical approaches, and highly personalised patient care. His practice includes the treatment of traumatic hand injuries, nerve compression syndromes, tendon disorders, arthritis, wrist instability, and complex upper limb conditions. After more than 20 years working exclusively within the NHS, he has expanded into private practice in order to provide patients with greater access, continuity, and flexibility of specialist hand and wrist care.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
