About Dr Patrick Carney
Dr Patrick Carney is a neurologist specialising in general neurology, epilepsy, and neurological sleep disorders. He consults with Neurology Network Melbourne at their Box Hill location. He also works at Austin Health and is the deputy director of neurology at both Box Hill Hospital and at Eastern Health. Dr Carney first graduated in 2001 with an MBBS from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He then spent time training in neurology at Austin Health and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Following this, he completed a PhD in epilepsy with the Brain Research Institute and the Epilepsy Research Centre. Dr Carney remains interested in research particularly in the use of imaging for epilepsy diagnosis. As part of his work with Austin Health, Dr Carney established a specialised clinic for patients with disorders of daytime somnolence and abnormal nocturnal behaviours. He also works within the Austin Health Comprehensive Epilepsy Programme where he evaluates epileptic patients and assists with the surgical management of their condition.
