About Mr Nitin Modi

Mr Nitin Modi is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery seeing patients at the James Paget University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and private patients at BMI Bury St Edmund's Hospital. Mr Modi completed his medical degree at the University of Mumbai, India in 1998. He later moved to the UK and was awarded his Membership with the Royal College of Surgeons. In 2013, he became a Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Modi undertook further extensive training in shoulder and elbow surgery during fellowships at reputed centres, including at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He became registered as a specialist in trauma and orthopaedic surgery by the General Medical Council (UK) in 2016 and was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic (Shoulder and Elbow Surgery) surgeon in 2019. Mr Modi also holds a Master of Surgery degree in Orthopaedics, as well as a Diploma in Orthopaedics. In his current clinical practice, Mr Modi sees patients with a broad range of shoulder and elbow conditions such as frozen shoulder, sports injuries, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, rotator cuff injury, calcific tendonitis, ulnar entrapment (cubital tunnel syndrome) and shoulder trauma. He has expertise in a full range of treatments and procedures, including the following: shoulder replacement, rotator cuff repair, shoulder arthroscopy, joint injections, ulnar nerve release and trapeziectomy. In addition to his busy clinical practice, Mr Modi actively teaches medical students, trainee doctors, junior surgeons, nursing staff and theatre staff. Mr Modi also serves as faculty on FRCS course and an international shoulder arthroscopy course. He also enjoys working in the field of research and has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in international journals in orthopaedic surgery.
