Natasha Cherono Henley is a Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon with extensive expertise in the management of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hiatus hernia repair, gallstones, and abdominal wall hernias. She performs the majority of her procedures using laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques and has over 12 years’ experience as a consultant, covering both elective and emergency general surgery. During this time, she has performed more than 1,000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies in both planned and emergency settings, as well as over 200 hiatus hernia repairs. She also undertakes a high volume of endoscopic work, performing more than 200 gastroscopies annually in her NHS practice, and is recognised as an endoscopy trainer. In addition, she carries out both laparoscopic and open abdominal wall hernia repairs.
Miss Henley graduated from the University of Manchester in 1999 and completed her basic surgical training in the West of Scotland, including a period of research. She subsequently undertook higher surgical training in the North West of England, specialising in upper gastrointestinal surgery. She has been a Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon in Stockport since 2012.
Alongside her clinical work, Miss Henley holds a senior leadership role as Associate Medical Director for the Division of Surgery within her NHS Trust, where she is responsible for clinical governance and the development of surgical services. She is also an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and regularly examines surgical trainees at the start of their surgical careers.
