About

Naina Gupta is a therapist, EMDR practitioner and CAMHS clinical therapist at Nightingale Hospital. She specialises in trauma-focused psychotherapy for both adolescents and adults, bringing over three decades of experience in mental health care. Her therapeutic approach is relational, integrative and intuitive, with a strong focus on building a meaningful and consistent client-therapist connection throughout the healing process. Naina works with a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, stress, mood disorders, interpersonal difficulties, binge eating disorder, postnatal depression, self-harm, sleep disorders, and work-related stress. She also supports clients experiencing low self-esteem, perfectionism, chronic health conditions, and specific difficulties such as trichotillomania, tinnitus, misophonia, and body image issues.

At Nightingale Hospital, Naina offers EMDR-based trauma therapy supported by a wide array of psychotherapeutic interventions tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Her work is rooted in a person-centred philosophy and enriched by techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Deep Brain Reorientation, Internal Family Systems-informed EMDR, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. She is trained in Flash EMDR and EMDR 2.0, and adapts her work to include attachment-informed approaches for clients with complex trauma histories. Her focus is not only on addressing presenting symptoms but on supporting each client’s inner resilience and capacity for growth.

Outside of Nightingale Hospital, Naina works at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, delivering psychological therapy for adolescents aged 11 to 20 at The Well Centre. She has worked therapeutically across the lifespan, including as a Senior Community Mental Health Nurse, Primary Care Therapist, Perinatal Clinical Specialist Nurse, and as a Senior Practitioner and Trainer at the Centre for Parent and Child Support and the High Needs Families Project. She has also been involved in training other professionals on trauma-informed care and mental health best practices.

Her specialist areas include trauma, anxiety disorders (including generalised anxiety, health anxiety, and social anxiety), relationship issues, grief and bereavement, low self-confidence, sleep difficulties, and emotional regulation. She is also experienced in helping clients with issues such as stuttering, IBS, eating problems, addictions, chronic fatigue, fears, needle phobia, exam stress, fertility challenges, menopause, and public speaking anxiety. She supports clients with a broad range of concerns and is also able to provide guidance on issues such as sexual dysfunction, libido, jealousy, anger, and obsessive-compulsive behaviours.

Naina provides therapy in English and Hindi and works with both young people and adults. She is an accredited EMDR therapist with advanced training in multiple EMDR modalities for both children and adults. Her qualifications include a Master of Science in the Psychodynamics of Human Development, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and extensive training in cognitive behavioural therapy, counselling, and other trauma-informed approaches. She is a Registered Mental Nurse and Registered General Nurse, and is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Naina is also a member of the EMDR Association UK & Ireland, the UK Psychological Trauma Society, the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS), the National Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (NRCP), and Trauma Aid UK.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
