About

Mr Thomas Browne is an experienced general surgeon based at Ramsay Springfield Hospital, Chelmsford. He runs a one stop varicose vein clinic in which he can perform leg scans at the time of the initial consultation.

He specialises in the following areas:

• Vascular disease

• Varicose veins

• Open aneurysm repair

• Bypass surgery

• Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair

• Carotid surgery

Mr Browne gained his medical qualifications in 1982 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He earned his postgraduate degrees from the Royal College of Surgeons of London and the conjoint Colleges of Surgeons of the United Kingdom and Ireland. He also holds a Master of Surgery from the University College Dublin. Following his training in the UK, he moved to Australia and trained with Michael Lawrence-Brown and Mr David Hartley - a world-renowned endovascular team - at the Royal Perth Hospital. During this time, Mr Browne pioneered the fenestrated endovascular graft which has now been used in over 7,500 patients worldwide. He was also one of the first-ever surgeons to use endovenous techniques for the treatment of varicose veins and remains at the forefront of advances in this area.

He is a member of the Vascular Surgical Society, the British Association of Medical Managers, and The Council for the British Society for Endovascular Therapy.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
