About
His research covers the genetics of inherited retinal diseases and he was part of the team that performed the first ocular gene therapy trial in the world. He now runs the LUXTURNA gene therapy programme at both hospitals. His current research is into the retinovascular diseases of childhood.
He trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He subsequently was appointed a clinical fellow at the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada, where he gained subspecialty training in paediatric ophthalmology. He subsequently moved to the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia where he trained in Adult Vitreo-Retinal Surgery before moving back to Moorfields for a final year of adult and paediatric vitreo-retinal surgery.
He has paediatric retinal clinics and operating lists at Great Ormond Street and Adult surgical retinal clinics at Moorfields.
