Over
Mr Pieter Le Roux is an experienced Consultant Urologist specialising in kidney and adrenal surgery. One of the highest-volume kidney surgeons in the UK, he performs more than 100 complex procedures each year, including nephrectomies, partial nephrectomies, and nephroureterectomies. The majority of his operations are carried out robotically using the Da Vinci surgical system, although he is equally skilled in open and conventional laparoscopic techniques. His clinical interests span robotic kidney surgery, urological oncology, benign prostatic hyperplasia, laparoscopic procedures, pyeloplasty, adrenalectomy, and advanced reconstructive surgery.
Originally from South Africa, Mr Le Roux graduated in Medicine from Stellenbosch University in 1989. He undertook his early surgical training in the UK, achieving the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1996. He went on to complete his specialist training in Urology at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town before being appointed Consultant Urologist and Senior Lecturer at Tygerberg Hospital and Stellenbosch University in 2000. His expertise in laparoscopic urology was further enhanced through international training with Dr Inderbir Gill in Cleveland and Mr Chris Eden in Basingstoke. In recognition of his contribution to the field, he received the prestigious Storz Prize from the South African Urological Association in 2002.
