About Mr Nishal Patel
Mr Nishal Patel is a Consultant Ophthalmic Eye Surgeon based at the East Kent Hospitals University Foundation NHS Trust. He also provides a comprehensive general and specialist ophthalmic services at the Kent and Canterbury and William Harvey Hospitals specializing in Cataract surgery and Retinal diseases. Mr Patel has established his reputation as a world recognised ophthalmic surgeon with collaborations in local, regional, national and international academic institutions, with global experience in laser and injection therapy over a career spanning 20 years. He is an expert eye surgeon highly skilled in managing patients that have ocular symptoms and is extremely proficient in cataract surgery and clear lens extraction with refractive lens insertion. Mr Patel continues his commitment outside his clinical work by being actively involved in leading innovation, research and education, supervising Consultant Surgeons and junior surgeons in teaching the techniques of cataract surgery.At present, his portfolio of clinical trials with other collaborators include over 50 studies with international publication in over 40 peer review journals and he holds a teaching position as Senior Lecturer at Kings College School of Medicine in London and at University of Kent.
