He leads the Manchester Pituitary Service and introduced the endoscopic “keyhole” technique to the region in 2005, improving recovery times and outcomes for patients with conditions such as acromegaly and Cushing’s disease. His spinal expertise includes the treatment of degenerative disc disease, day-case discectomy, spinal trauma and spinal tumours, with a focus on motion-preserving and minimally invasive procedures that reduce pain and speed recovery.

Professor Gnanalingham believes in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to care, working closely with other specialists to ensure the best outcomes for his patients. Surgery is usually considered only when medical and non-operative treatments have not been successful.
