Mr George Attilakos is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine. He is currently the Clinical Lead for Obstetrics at University College London Hospital.
Alongside managing normal pregnancies, Mr Attilakos has a special interest in the management of multiple pregnancies. He has great expertise in all areas of fetal medicine, including performing surgical procedures for fetal complications including congenital diaphragmatic hernia and twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. He also has experience in the management of high-risk pregnancies.
Mr Attilakos completed his medical degree in 1993 and became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2002. He later began research in fetal medicine and conducted studies surrounding non-invasive prenatal diagnosis. He was awarded his MD by the University of Bristol for his work.
Mr Attilakos then completed his speciality training in Fetal and Maternal Medicine in St Michael's Hospital of the University of Bristol.
Outside of his clinical work, Mr Attilakos is actively involved in teaching and has been the RCOG College Tutor at University College London Hospital. He also was a developer of a national teaching course for junior obstetricians surrounding operative birth skills.
He is an elected Council member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists representing North London. He is a Member of the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is also a Steering Committee Member of the UK Obstetric Surveillance System.
