Mr Gkougkousis is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a broad skill set and experience and a subspecialist interest in endourology, Laser prostate surgery, urinary stones and General Urology. 

He completed his Urological training in the University Hospitals in Athens, Greece, where he gained experience in open surgery, complex pelvic surgery and endourology, including laser prostate surgery with the first generation of Green Light Laser surgery. He undertook research with the university, leading to his thesis on the function of a-adrenergic antagonists. He then moved on to Leicester, where he trained in complex open pelvic and kidney surgery, advanced endourology and stone surgery, Thulium laser prostate surgery and laparoscopy, being involved in many cases of single port

laparoscopy. 

Mr Gkougkousis then joined the Urology department in Whipps cross hospital in London, performing stone and prostate surgery and also complex open kidney surgery. He then took up a substantive post at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in 2014, setting up a model state-of-the-art minimally invasive service, focusing on day case stone and Laser prostate surgery. He has performed many hundreds of cases with the vast majority performed as day case. 

Mr Gkougkousis is an international trainer in laser prostate surgery and offers both Green Light Laser and HOLEP. His main focus is also treatment of all types of urinary stones. He also has an interest in chronic testicular pain and the management of urinary symptoms and infections, as well as treatment for various other benign conditions. Mr Gkougkousis also has a special interest in extra-anatomic stents.
