He currently serves as Chair of the Surgical Collaborative at James Cook University Hospital and also leads the development of the new Friarage Surgical Hub. In addition to his clinical work, he contributes extensively to medical education and leadership as Lead Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons Far East examinations, examiner assessor, and member of the Specialty Surgical Board of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Based at the BMI Woodlands Hospital in Darlington for over two decades and the Duchy hospital Harrogate he performs more than 500 hip and knee replacements annually, including 50 revision surgeries and 80 partial knee replacements. These figures significantly exceed national recommendations for maintaining surgical standards, and his outcomes consistently rank among the highest nationally for patient satisfaction and lowest complication rates.

As one of the first surgeons in the UK to adopt robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery, Mr. Port has performed over 300 procedures using the Stryker Mako Robotics system. This advanced technology combines 3D planning with precise intraoperative reconstruction, offering patients reduced pain, faster recovery, and improved long-term function.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr. Port plays a key role in shaping orthopaedic care across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, working to standardise the delivery and quality of surgical services. His leadership, pioneering approach, and extensive surgical expertise have established him as a national authority in hip and knee replacement surgery.
