Mr Sivaraman has graduated medicine in 1993 at Madurai-Kamaraj University. He is currently a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who encourages non-surgical options with pain management plans and is well known for educating and assisting his patients in the decision making process when considering treatment options. He believes for most of the cases that conservative treatment should be followed before surgery.
He specialises in spinal surgery for deformity, inflammatory spinal pathologies, degenerative conditions of the neck and lower back, spinal tumours, infections such as spinal tuberculosis. He was actively involved in the Spinal Tuberculosis Unit at The Royal London Hospital, one of a very few units in the UK seeing a high volume of patients.
Mr Sivaraman is a widely experienced surgeon, performing over 500 surgical procedures and spinal injections during a year. He has broadened his knowledge by completing several fellowships overseas. His higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics was completed through the prestigious Percival Pott training programme at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospital. He completed his spinal fellowship training at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital both under orthopaedic and neuro-spinal surgeons.
He is also actively involved in the training of medical students and orthopaedic specialist trainees at St Bartholomew's Hospital and at The Royal London Hospital. Mr Sivaraman enjoys sharing his knowledge also by presenting GP lectures and physical therapist lectures.
Mr Sivaraman is heavily involved in research, having published and presented papers on spinal surgery at international conferences. Additionally, he is also the author of a spinal chapter in a medical textbook.
