About Matt Davies
Matt Davies is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience working in elite sport. He graduated with First Class Honours in Physiotherapy in 2008 and completed an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy in 2018. He began his career in the NHS, where he developed a strong grounding in clinical practice, before moving into full-time sports physiotherapy with first-team roles at Gloucester Academy and Queens Park Rangers FC. He most recently worked as Lead Physiotherapist for Great Britain and England Men’s Hockey, where he was responsible for physiotherapy services across major international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games, the World Cup and the Paris Olympic Games. This role involved the management and rehabilitation of athletes competing at the highest level. Alongside his team appointments, Matt has worked as a Consultant Physiotherapist at the UK Sports Institute’s Intensive Rehabilitation Unit. In this setting, he was involved in the rehabilitation of complex injuries, gaining further experience in advanced recovery and return-to-performance programmes. His clinical interests include the rehabilitation of complex soft tissue injuries, particularly affecting the hamstring and calf, as well as multi-ligament knee injuries. His practice is informed by current evidence and ongoing professional development, with a focus on structured, individualised rehabilitation. Matt works with athletes to support recovery and return to sport through clear assessment, targeted treatment and structured rehabilitation planning.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
