Dr Manjiri Lele

Dr. Manjiri Lele is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in the mental health of children and young people. After qualifying as a doctor in 1994, she initially trained and worked in General Psychiatry before deciding to focus on Child Psychiatry. Since 2008, Dr. Lele has served as a Consultant in the NHS, including her current role in a CAMHS ADHD Service. Previously, she led an Adolescent CAMHS Service in West London. Dr. Lele is actively involved in teaching and training, serving as an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for psychiatrists specialising in children and adolescents. She has also trained nurses to qualify as non-medical prescribers. Her commitment to education reflects her dedication to advancing care in child and adolescent mental health. Known for her ability to build strong rapport and trust with children and young people, Dr. Lele works collaboratively with families and schools to identify challenges early and develop effective treatment plans. She is mindful of the impact of a child's environment on their mental health and strives to address their needs holistically. Dr. Lele offers comprehensive diagnostic assessments and tailored care plans, including recommendations for talking therapies and, when necessary, medication treatments. Her consultations can be conducted in person or virtually, ensuring accessibility and convenience for families. Following assessments, detailed reports with findings and recommendations are provided. Her areas of special interest include the assessment and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Dr. Lele provides diagnostic assessments and medication treatment for ADHD in children aged 5 to 18. Initial consultations involve a general psychiatric assessment, which may progress to a full ADHD evaluation during subsequent sessions. She is skilled at distinguishing ADHD-like symptoms that may stem from other conditions, such as anxiety or autism spectrum traits. If further evaluation for autism or other conditions is indicated, Dr. Lele guides families toward appropriate neurodisability services. Dr. Lele also has extensive experience in supporting young people through transitions, such as moving from children's mental health services to adult services. She applies this expertise to help students maintain mental health stability during significant life changes, such as university transfers after A-levels.
