He has dual adult and paediatric practices at Mater Private Network, Dublin, and Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street, where he leads the paediatric retina, genetic eye disease and electrophysiology services.
Mr Stephenson graduated with honours from University College Dublin in 2010 and undertook comprehensive ophthalmic surgical training through the Irish College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He holds two postgraduate research degrees in inherited retinal disease.
Following specialist training in Ireland, Mr Stephenson completed three years of high-level international subspecialty fellowship training in Canada. At the University of British Columbia he gained advanced expertise in medical and surgical retina, uveitis, ophthalmic oncology and ocular genetics, before undertaking a further fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, focusing on paediatric retinal disease, inherited retinal degenerations and visual electrophysiology.
Mr Stephenson’s clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of vitreoretinal disease, including retinal detachment, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular hole and epiretinal membrane surgery, cataract surgery, and complex paediatric retinal disorders.
