About

Mr John Kitchen completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Aberdeen and his Basic Surgical Training with NHS Grampian. He began his neurosurgical training at The Institute of Neurological Sciences in Glasgow before furthering his experience at The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. He later completed a fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

In addition to his clinical training, Mr Kitchen engaged in formal academic research at The University of Manchester with The Brain Injury Research Group, focusing on neurosurgical aspects of CSF infection. His main areas of clinical interest are neuro-oncology and epilepsy, with a specialist focus on epilepsy surgery. He is an active member of the regionally commissioned epilepsy surgery service (Norcess).

Dedicated to the advancement of his field, Mr Kitchen is committed to training the next generation of neurosurgeons in the North West.
