He was awarded his Fellowship in the Paediatric and Child Health Division of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2014. He later completed a 2-year fellowship in liver and intestinal transplants in the UK. Dr Rajanayagam's passion for child health also led him to pursue medical fieldwork in Egypt, India, East Africa and the Torres Strait.
Dr Rajanayagam has clinical interests in all areas of paediatric gastroenterology, including: coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, acute & chronic liver disease, chronic abdominal pain and constipation.
Alongside his clinical work as a consultant, he is actively involved in research investigating the immune mechanisms of liver disease at the Royal Children's Hospital, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunology.
