He gained his medical degree from Imperial College, University of London in 2001, where he was awarded a distinction for his performance in final Surgery exams. He was also a prize winner for his overall performance in final medical exams. Whilst completing his medical degrees, he completed an additional two degrees. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Imperial College, London in 1997 and a Master's degree in Diagnostic Imaging from University College, Oxford in 2000.
He undertook his orthopaedic surgical training in Central London, where he worked at specialist centres such as Charing Cross Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He is fellowship trained in knee surgery having completed a fellowship in soft tissue knee surgery and knee arthroplasty at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
Upon completion of his training, he worked as a consultant hip and knee surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London for 2 years before moving to Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital, where he was based between 2017 and 2024. He is now in Full time private practice and offers apointments to adult patients in the Surrey, Berkshire and Middlesex area.
Mr Platt's particular areas of subspecialty interest are in joint preservation and limited/partial joint replacement, in particular partial knee replacement (also known as half knee replacement or unicondylar knee replacement), patellar pain, anterior knee pain and patellar instability. He is a member of the British Patellofemoral Society.
He is fellowship trained in soft tissue knee surgery and knee relacement. He has used various iterations of robotic and navigated surgery in his career and he is Mako robotic surgery certified, and can offer this to patients at three locations - Woking Nuffield Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Guildford Nuffield Hospital.
He also offers a wide range of non-surgical options for hip and knee pain, in particular he has a large amount of experience with Arthrosamid® a new injectable implant for knee Osteoarthritis, and has perofrmed amongst the highest number of Arthrosamid® procedures in the UK. As of May 2026 he has performed over 275 Arthrosamid procedures on over 200 patients. He can perform this treatment to patients at Woking Nuffield Hospital, Guildford Nuffield Hospital, Bishops Wood Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and The Runnymede Hospital, but he is happy to consult with patients regarding their suitabilty for this procedure at any venue.
