Mr Jakub Kozdryk is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, with particular expertise in primary and revision joint replacement surgery. His clinical practice focuses on the management of hip and knee osteoarthritis, including complex primary replacements, revision (re-do) hip and knee arthroplasty, and difficult reconstructive cases involving periprosthetic joint infection, major bone loss, and periprosthetic fractures. He is recognised for his expertise in advanced lower limb reconstruction and the use of modern technologies such as robotic-assisted surgery and patient-specific implant positioning systems.
Mr Kozdryk works as a full-time NHS Consultant at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, a designated Major Trauma Centre and Major Hip and Knee Revision Centre. His role involves the management of highly complex orthopaedic cases, including major reconstructive procedures and infected joint replacements requiring multidisciplinary specialist input.
He graduated in 2006 from the Medical University of Gdańsk before completing eight years of higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Birmingham. In 2018, he successfully completed the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) examination and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Following completion of specialist training, Mr Kozdryk undertook three advanced post-CCT fellowships, including a hip arthroplasty fellowship at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, a Trauma Fellowship at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, and a specialist hip and knee revision arthroplasty fellowship at the same institution. During this period, he trained alongside high-volume lower limb reconstruction surgeons with a focus on complex revision arthroplasty and the treatment of periprosthetic joint infection.
Mr Kozdryk has extensive experience using advanced orthopaedic technologies and is a certified user of both MAKO and ROSA robotic systems for robotic-assisted total knee replacement surgery. He also has specialist expertise in OPS (Optimised Positioning System) technology, which uses each patient’s individual spinal alignment and pelvic movement to optimise hip implant positioning and improve long-term stability and function. His approach recognises the importance of personalised biomechanics in achieving durable joint replacement outcomes and reducing complications such as dislocation.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Kozdryk is actively involved in teaching, training and research. He serves as an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for Core Surgical Trainees and Higher Trauma and Orthopaedic Trainees, and is a core member of the Bone Infection Group Coventry and Warwickshire as well as the Regional Complex Hip and Knee Arthroplasty MDT. He is also an Executive Member of the Bone and Joint Infection Society (BAJIS). He has presented research nationally and internationally and has published in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals.
