Dr Ivo Gwanimesia is a highly respected and experienced Plastic Surgeon, known for his expertise in local anaesthetics. He has extensive training in plastic surgery, working in some of the most prestigious hospitals in London. He achieved his certificate of Completion of Training in 2010 and spent 2011 as a Fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital. In 2013, he left for the United States to pursue a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, which is known for its world-renowned craniofacial surgery program. During his time there, he was also involved in face transplant research projects. Dr Gwanimesia's time at the Cleveland Clinic was spent furthering his specialisation in adult and paediatric craniofacial surgery. He also undertook groundbreaking research which led to the development of a new technique for reconstructing the middle vault of the nose, known as 'Fulcrum Spreader Graft'. This method is now published in scientific literature, making him a pioneer in this field.
With his wealth of experience, Dr Gwanimesia is skilled in a wide range of procedures. He provides high quality surgical care for patients with skin lesions, including moles, skin tags, sebaceous cysts, lipomas and warts, and is also skilled in more complex procedures such as facelifts, brow lifts, blepharoplasty, neck lifts, genioplasty and rhinoplasty at private hospitals.
Dr Gwanimesia is an author of several papers and is the co-author of chapters in the newly published Plastic Surgery textbook 'Plastic Surgery - A problem based approach'. He is the author of chapters in the new 'Atlas for Craniofacial Surgery', is an expert on nasal osteotomies and orbital box osteotomy for orbital dystopia. Dr Gwanimesia is a member of the British Medical Association, Medical Defence Union and the General Medical Council.
