Dr Iqtedar A. Muazzam is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a role he has held since 2015. He specialises in the treatment of cancer using systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, anticancer antibodies, targeted small molecules, and hormonal (endocrine) treatments. His clinical expertise covers breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers, and he has a particular interest in the management and research of urologic cancers.
In addition to his role at Hull, Dr Muazzam also serves as a visiting medical oncologist at the North Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust and the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, where he manages patients with lung and skin cancers, including melanoma.
Dr Muazzam is also lead for Teenage and Young Adult Cancers at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Dr Muazzam is actively involved in national clinical research as a study investigator and maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging anticancer strategies to provide the best outcomes for his patients. He had served as the Lead for Acute Oncology Services and currently chairs for Morbidity and Mortality Reviews within the Oncology Department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He also leads multiple clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing oncology care.
Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Dr Muazzam is an Honorary Lecturer at the Hull York Medical School. He is the current chair of Medical Oncology Examination Board for the Federation of Royal Colleges UK. He is dedicated to the teaching and training of medical students and postgraduate trainees in Internal Medicine and Oncology.
