Dr Hoda Gouhar is a Dubai-based clinical pathologist who works at the Advanced Care Oncology Center and the Novomed Specialized Surgical Hospital. She has also spent almost ten years as the Medical Laboratory Director and Lab Quality Manager at Medsol Healthcare/Gulf Healthcare International.
Following her qualification, Dr Gouhar worked as a clinical pathologist at Al Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah, before becoming a senior pathology specialist at the Blood Transfusion and Research Center of Sharjah in 2003. She spent almost three years as Head of Clinical Pathology at Al Zahra Hospital where she was also Chairman of the Infection Control Committee.
Dr Gouhar prior positions include Medical Lab Director at CryoSave Arabia and she has also been involved in the Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide (BMDW) programme which finds matches for bone marrow transplant patients.
Dr Gouhar received her MBBS degree from the Mansoura University School of Medicine in 1981, before pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Pathology. She then went on to complete a PhD in Clinical Immunology at the University of Wales which she finished in 2005.
Dr Gouhar takes an active role in medical education and has been involved in the training programmes for students at Sharjah University, College of Science and College of Technology. She has also trained students from the Al Ain University College of Science as well as laboratory staff.
