About Dr Graham Hay-Smith
Dr Graham Hay-Smith is an experienced ophthalmologist specialising in cataract surgery and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery. He is the owner and principal of Moreton Eye Group and practises at the North Lakes Eye Centre, located within Moreton Day Hospital. Dr Hay-Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from St George’s, University of London, in 2001. He subsequently gained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and later became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2013. Before relocating to Australia, Dr Hay-Smith gained extensive experience working within the NHS in the United Kingdom. Alongside his medical career, he also served for 27 years in the British Army Reserves, including active service in Iraq. Having performed many thousands of successful procedures, Dr Hay-Smith is known for his excellent surgical outcomes and low complication rates. He takes an individualised approach to patient care, using a wide range of intraocular lenses and refractive strategies tailored to each patient’s needs. His additional clinical interests include retinal diseases, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, inflammatory eye disease, and uveitis.
