Sein Medizinstudium schloss er an der Universität in Innsbruck ab. Später schrieb Dr. Mair seine Dissertation an der Universitätsklinik für Unfallchirurgie und Sporttraumatologie Innsbruck. Die Ausbildung zum Facharzt erfolgte im LKH Feldkirch/Vorarlberg sowie in den Städten Passau (Bayern), Salzburg und Wien. In 2010 übernahm Dr. Mair die Leitung der Wirbelsäulenambulanz im Hanusch Krankenhaus in Wien.

Zusätzlich zu seinem Facharzttitel in der Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie, verfügt Dr. Mair außerdem über ein ÖÄK Diplom Sportmedizin und das Notarzt-Diplom.

Neben seiner Dissertation hat Dr. Georg Mair am Lehrbuch "AO Spine Manual -Clinical Applications - Classification of injuries of the subaxial cervical spine" mitgeschrieben.
