About Mr Edward Massa
Mr. Edward Massa is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Essex, specialising in hip and knee pathologies. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Malta Medical School in 2006 and later moved to the UK in 2008 to further his career in orthopaedic surgery. Mr. Massa became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and completed his basic surgical training in 2012. During this period, he also pursued a Masters in Musculoskeletal Sciences at University College London (UCL). Mr. Massa continued to advance his expertise through higher specialist training on the South East London Rotation, resulting in the successful attainment of fellowship status from the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2019. He further honed his skills during two years of fellowship training at prestigious institutions including the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and Guys & St Thomas' Hospital in London. His clinical focus lies in young adult hip pathology, including conditions such as Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and hip dysplasia. His expertise extends to the management of these conditions through various surgical interventions including hip arthroscopy and Periacetabular osteotomies (PAO). Additionally, Mr. Massa is adept in performing primary hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as complex primary and revision hip surgeries. Apart from his clinical practice, Mr. Massa is committed to medical education and has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education in 2021. He actively engages in teaching and mentoring aspiring orthopaedic surgeons. Mr. Massa is affiliated with several esteemed professional organisations, including the General Medical Council, British Orthopaedic Association, British Hip Society, Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
