I graduated from medical school in 1997 and completed both my general and specialist training in Yorkshire. Towards the end of my training, I undertook a PhD at the University of Manchester, focusing on nutrition and appetite control. I have since published and presented this research at both national and international conferences.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Wythenshawe Hospital (part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust) since 2010. I am actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and junior doctors, and hold the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester.
With over 15 years of experience in gastroenterology, I provide expert care across all aspects of the specialty. I have particular interests in clinical nutrition, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. I established and developed the Nutrition Support Team at Wythenshawe Hospital and lead a specialist inflammatory bowel disease clinic. I am also accredited as an endoscopist within the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
Outside of work, I enjoy a busy family life with my spouse, who is a GP, our three children, and our energetic dog. In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, tennis, and sailing.
I am passionate about delivering high-quality care and always strive to provide safe, efficient, and thorough treatment tailored to each individual patient.
