Dr Mathis Heydtmann is a Consultant Hepatologist. Mathis sees liver patients only and does not see patients with general gastrointestinal problems.

He is also a committee member of the Policy Public Health and Advocacy committee of the European Association on the Study of the Liver (EASL). He represents EASL in the European Health Alliance on ALcohol convened by WHO Europe in 2025.
Mathis is trained in quality improvement methodology (Scottish Quality and Safety Fellowship in 2018) and is part of the group writing the UK (Public Health England) guidelines on management of people with alcohol problems (published 2025).
