About
Dr Pearson is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). His therapy treatmtnets cover a range mental health and psychological difficulties. Examples of these include Depression, Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, Anger Management, Bereavement, low self-esteem, and personal relationship issues.
After joining the NHS in 1998 Dr Pearson went onto join a specialist team who worked with both adult mental health and adolescent services which included working with Aspergers's Syndrome and individuals who had ADHD, where he had a wide experience of clinical work. He started his work here as a diagnostician and later offered post-diagnosis psychology treatment pertenant to more complex cases.
On top of this work he has also rpovided a number of services to other NHS professional in terms of training, supervision and consultation. Alongside this he has also given formal specialist clinical teaching to doctoral trainees.
His main therapeutic approach is shaped on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, although where necessary he will use different appoaches for individuals with Asperger's / High-Functioning Autism and with ADHD, as many will find parts of psychological therapy especially difficult.
Dr Pearson is also able to offer specialist assessments of support needs for people with Asperger's Syndrome/High Functioning Autism and with ADHD. This is carried out for government funding applications or appeals.
