Dr. Esme Hill completed her medical school training at Birmingham University. Between her pre-clinical and clinical training, she undertook an intercalated BSc in the History of Medicine at University College London; another string to her bow.
On completion of medical school training she completed her higher training in the West Midlands before deciding to pursue a career in Oncology. Dr. Hill spent 6 months as a Junior Clinical Fellow in Oncology at the Royal Free Hospital in London before training as a Specialist Registrar in Clinical Oncology on the Oxford Clinical Oncology training scheme; gathering valuable experience and mentorship in the field of oncology.
After completing specialist exams, Dr. Hill spent some time pursuing her passion for medical research, undertaking a programme to develop academic and research experience as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Gray Institute of Radiation Oncology and Biology in Oxford.
Dr. Hill was appointed as a clinical oncology consultant in February 2015. She has built an enourmous portfolio of experience in her field, with a broad range of skills. Her sub-specialty interest is in the management of upper gastrointestinal cancers and cancers of unknown primary origin, with extensive experience of treating such patients with radiotherapy and systemic therapy.
Dr. Hill is a core member of the ‘Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer' Multidisciplinary Teams and ‘Cancer of Unknown Primary' Multidisciplinary Teams at both the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and in addition the ‘Cancer of Unknown Primary' Multidisciplinary Team Lead at Wexham Park Hospital.
Dr. Hill have extensive experience in the management of acutely unwell cancer patients, dedicating a large amount of her time to ‘Acute Oncology'. She am the malignant spinal cord compression clinical lead at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and is also an Educational Supervisor to Core Medical trainees; adding teaching and mentorship to her already long list of skills and attributes.
