About Dr Anthony Abdullah
Dr Anthony Abdullah is a consultant dermatologist at the Birmingham Skin Centre, where he is also joint Clinical Director. The Birmingham Skin Centre is a teaching hospital for Birmingham University and is a centre for specialist registrar doctors training in dermatology. Dr Abdullah is also Lead Clinician at the Birmingham Regional Skin Laster Centre. Dr Abdullah's clinical interests include dermatology for adults and children, skin surgery, laser skin surgery, skin conditions such as birthmarks and scarring, and skin cancer. He has extensive clinical research experience in many of these areas and has published numerous articles in the peer reviewed scientific literature. He also presents his research findings at conferences, both nationally and internationally. Dr Abdullah has a particular interest in doctors' education and training and is an honorary tutor in Dermatology for Cardiff University for the Diploma in Practical Dermatology course. He was instrumental in setting up a government sponsored Laser Unit for Birthmarks in Hong Kong. Dr Abdullah qualified with Honours in Medicine, Medical Microbiology, Psychiatry and Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 1992. He undertook an intercalated degree in Biochemistry on scholarship during his medical degree, due to his exceptional performance as an undergraduate. He underwent full professional training in medicine in Merseyside and did his Dermatology Registrar training in the West Midlands. He underwent further specialist training as a Fellow of Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Children Hospital in London.
