About Dr Deepa Narayanan
Dr Deepa Narayanan is a Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine based in the United Kingdom. She works at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and also practises privately at Optima Clinics and Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital. Her clinical work focuses on the diagnosis and management of metabolic and biochemical disorders. Her areas of expertise include cholesterol management, lipid disorders such as familial hypercholesterolaemia, cardiovascular risk assessment, and the management of cholesterol levels following cardiovascular events. She also manages metabolic bone conditions, including osteoporosis, osteopenia, vitamin D deficiency, osteomalacia, and Paget’s disease, and provides clinical interpretation of biochemical investigations. Dr Narayanan is the Clinical Lead for lipid and familial hypercholesterolaemia services at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. She has been involved in the development of specialist services, including the implementation of genetic testing pathways for inherited lipid disorders in the Yorkshire and Humber region. In addition to her clinical practice, she is involved in postgraduate medical education and training, acting as a clinical supervisor and tutor. Her work also includes research in lipid disorders, cardiovascular outcomes, and metabolic bone disease, and she has participated as a principal investigator in multicentre clinical trials. Dr Narayanan completed her medical degree in 2002 and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2006. She was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2014. Her private practice includes specialist assessment and management of cholesterol disorders and metabolic conditions, delivered through structured consultations and evidence-based treatment pathways.
