About Mr David Hillier
Mr David Hillier is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty and complex musculoskeletal trauma. He works within Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and also practises privately at Spire Liverpool Hospital. His clinical practice focuses on hip and knee joint replacement surgery (arthroplasty), including primary joint replacement procedures and revision surgery. He manages complex cases involving infection, trauma-related complications, and failed joint replacements, as well as general orthopaedic trauma. He graduated in Physiotherapy from Keele University in 2003 and worked as a senior physiotherapist before entering medicine. He later completed his medical degree (MBChB) at University of Manchester in 2008. His surgical training was undertaken across the West Midlands Deanery and the Cheshire and Merseyside rotation. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2019 and completed higher surgical training in 2021. He undertook the Cavendish Hip Fellowship in Sheffield, focusing on advanced hip arthroplasty techniques, before being appointed Consultant in 2022. He has a leadership role within the Cheshire and Merseyside Revision Arthroplasty Network, contributing to regional coordination of complex joint replacement services. His work includes participation in multidisciplinary care pathways for revision arthroplasty and trauma services. He also works in motorsport medicine as Chief Medical Officer at Oulton Park and as a doctor at Silverstone Circuit, providing medical support for high-energy trauma environments.
