About Dr Claudia Maizen
Dr. Claudia Maizen is a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal London Hosoital,, Barts Health UK, one of the biggest teaching hospitals and the biggest paediatric level one trauma centre in Europe. She is an internationally renowned expert in surgical treatment of DDH and hip Ultrasound screening, book author and board member of the International Consensus Committee for DDH Evaluation (ICODE) as well as member of the BSCOS DDH steering group. She receives many tertiary referrals for complex hip problems and neuromuscularproblems from the UK and beyond. Dr. Maizen was born in Austria and attended medical school at the Karl Franzens University Graz. She completed her orthopaedic training in Austria and moved to the UK for further training in paediatric orthopaedics and neuromuscular conditions, before being appointed as consultant at the Royal London Hospital in 2010, where she is clinical lead for paediatric orthopaedics and lead for the paediatric neuromuscular service. In her academic career she has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, is PI for numerous multicenter studies and reviewer and subspecialty editor for peer- reviewed journals. She has a passion for medical education and is also invited speaker and faculty on international conferences and courses. She organises the Graf hip Ultrasound courses in London and has co-authored Prof Graf's book on paediatric hip Ultrasound. Dr. Maizen is also involved in humanitarian projects and contributes to providing orthopaedic care to children in Africa and Mongolia, where she is also involved in teaching local surgeons. Dr Maizen treats all paediatric orthopaedic conditions including paediatric trauma, paediatric hips, paediatric and adolescent foot and ankle problems and neuromuscular conditions requiring orthopaedic input.
