About Dr Chris Kiely
Dr Chris Kiely is a well experienced Specialist Gastroenterologist based in Sydney's north shore. With expertise spanning the entire spectrum of gastroenterological conditions, Dr Kiely offers specialised medical assessment and management to his patients. He currently sees private patients at North Shore Private Hospital and Northern Gastroenterology. He also offers services at Mater Hospital, Sydney Gastrointestinal Specialists and Macquarie University Hospital. His journey in medicine began with the completion of his medical degree from the University of Sydney in 2008. Subsequently, he pursued specialist training in gastroenterology at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2014. During his training, Dr Kiely developed a keen interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which he further honed during a two-year tenure at Canberra Hospital and in the United Kingdom. In the UK, he served as the senior clinical fellow in IBD at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. In 2021, he successfully completed a PhD focused on IBD through the Australian National University, and he has contributed extensively to this field through multiple peer-reviewed publications. Dr Kiely specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He also has specialist expertise in a range of gastrointestinal conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, bowel cancer screening, coeliac disease, liver disease, peptic ulcer disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr Kiely is also accredited to perform adult gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr Kiely holds professional memberships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Gastroenterology Society of Australia, and ANZGITA (Australia and New Zealand Gastrointestinal Training Association). He also serves as a clinical tutor in the Medical Doctor program at Sydney University.
