About

I am a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeon based in Newcastle upon Tyne. My practice is founded on providing evidence-led, consultant-delivered care, tailoring both reconstructive and aesthetic principles to the specific anatomical and functional needs of each patient.

My Clinical Practice

My clinical focus spans complex reconstructive microsurgery, aesthetic surgery of the face and body, and the advanced management of lymphatic disorders. As the lead for the Great North Lymphatic Centre, I provide targeted surgical interventions for patients with lymphoedema and lipoedema. My approach to aesthetic surgery is similarly grounded in restorative principles, focusing on tissue quality, proportion, and achieving natural, balanced outcomes.

Key Areas of Expertise

• Lymphoedema & Lymphatic Surgery: Diagnostic Indocyanine Green (ICG) mapping, lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA), vascularised lymph node transfer (VLNT), and immediate lymphatic reconstruction (ILR).

• Reconstructive Microsurgery: Complex head and neck reconstruction and lower limb salvage following major trauma or oncological resection.

• Skin Cancer Surgery: Excision and specialist reconstruction; I serve as a core member of the regional Skin Cancer and Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs).

• Aesthetic Surgery: Facial rejuvenation and targeted body contouring, and specialist Asian aesthetic surgery. I possess specific expertise in tailoring procedures to Asian anatomical features—particularly periorbital rejuvenation and facial contouring—with a focus on respecting and preserving ethnic characteristics.

Training and Regional Healthcare Support

I earned my medical degree from the University of Leeds and completed specialist plastic surgery training in the North East of England, achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery in 2023. I subsequently completed two highly prestigious fellowships in Taiwan at China Medical University Hospital and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. This training provided concentrated exposure to highly specialised soft-tissue procedures and lymphatic supermicrosurgery.

Beyond my primary NHS and private practices in Newcastle, I actively collaborate with regional hospital trusts across Northern England and Scotland. By providing visiting specialist surgical support, I help increase regional operating capacity and reduce treatment waiting times for patients requiring elective and urgent care.

Research and Surgical Education

My commitment to clinical excellence extends beyond the operating theatre into active research and the training of future surgeons. I hold a Master of Research and direct my current academic focus toward evaluating long-term lymphoedema surgical outcomes, refining microsurgical ergonomics, and integrating advanced workflows to improve patient care. As an Associate Editor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open and a regular peer reviewer of various international scientific publications, I remain actively engaged with the latest advancements in my field.

Furthermore, I am dedicated to surgical education. I regularly instruct higher surgical trainees in complex microsurgery and anatomical workshops, and I am frequently invited to present my clinical outcomes at national and international conferences. This continuous academic involvement ensures my patients receive care informed by the most rigorous, up-to-date, and evidence-based standards.

Beyond the Clinic

Outside of my professional commitments, I enjoy exploring the local countryside with my wife and two young sons. Alongside family time, I maintain active interests in DIY and technique-oriented cooking, which provide a grounded balance to a demanding surgical practice.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
