After completing his training in general surgery, he went on to undertake a further 2 years of subspecialty training in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery and endocrine surgery. He has also completed a Master of Advanced Breast Surgery.

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is visiting breast surgeon with BreastScreen Queensland. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and Griffith University.
