Dr Anita Jacombs is an Australian-trained General Surgeon with expertise in laparoscopic and open Hernia Surgery including groin hernias, umbilical hernias, epigastric hernias and Spigelian Hernias. Dr Jacombs also has expertise in the management of more complex abdominal wall hernia including Incisional Hernias, Recurrent Hernias, Flank Hernias, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and the management of mesh complications including mesh infections, mesh fistulas and sinuses, mesh seromas and mesh failures.
Dr Jacombs is an Academic Surgeon with ongoing research interests in biofilm infection of surgical implants, how this affects the implants function and why implants fail. She has also worked with the Australian Team that develop the use of pre-operative Botulinum toxin A Abdominal Wall preparation to improve surgical outcomes of patients with Complex Incisional Hernias. She actively continues her research in both these areas.
Dr Anita Jacombs is an active Medical Educator. She is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney at the Nepean Clinical School and a Senior Instructor the RACS Emergency Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) skills course.
