Dr Andrew Stephens is a well experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery at North Shore Private Hospital. He completed his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Physiotherapy at Cumberland College of Health Sciences in 1991 and initially served as a Level 2 Sports Trained Physiotherapist, seeing patients suffering from acute sporting injuries, chronic foot and ankle conditions and lower limb trauma. After completing his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2005, Dr Stephens completed his specialist training in the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s Sydney Northside Training Program.

Throughout his career, Dr Stephens completed several fellowships, including the Sydney Foot and Ankle Fellowship and a fellowship in sport, trauma and arthroplasty in Victoria. He became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016 and is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. In 2014, he received the Mater Research Prize for his research work on the kinematic relationship between sitting and standing posture, pelvic inclination and their significance in total hip arthroplasty cup positioning. Alongside his clinical work, Dr Stephens is a teacher at Sydney Medical School and has presented GP seminars at Westmead Private Hospital.

At North Shore Private Hospital, Dr Stephens sees patients with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including: bunion, hammer toe, midfoot arthritis, ankle and subtalar osteoarthritis, midfoot fractures and dislocations, flat feet, plantar fasciitis, ankle instability, ankle sprain, Achilles tendonitis, sports injuries and osteochondral injuries. He has expertise in foot and ankle deformity correction and total ankle replacement.

Dr Stephens is happy to consult on any lower limb condition, fractures, sports injuries and children of walking age. He is also available for nonj life threatening trauma such such as hip and ankle fractures.
