Dr Andrew Neal consults with Neurology Network Melbourne where he specialises in epilepsy. He is also the deputy director of epilepsy at the Alfred Hospital and works within the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at both the Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital. Dr Neal typically sees patients suffering from seizures, whether that be one single episode or more frequent cases. His particular interest is in managing drug-resistant epileptic conditions and brain tumour associated epilepsy.
Dr Neal first completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree in 2005, before going on to achieve his MBBS in 2007. He spent time training in neurology and epilepsy before embarking on a year-long epilepsy fellowship in France which enabled him to gain valuable experience in stereo-EEG and epilepsy surgery. He is now the lead for the stereo-EEG program at the Alfred Hospital and delivers teaching courses for junior neurologists locally and nationally.
Dr Neal has made significant contributions to epilepsy research, having first completed a PhD on tumour-associated epilepsy at the University of Melbourne. He is now a research fellow at Monash University and has had multiple papers published in esteemed medical journals.
