Dr Ali Gursel is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty interests in hip and knee surgery, including arthroscopic procedures, joint replacement, and revision arthroplasty. He has extensive experience in the management of degenerative joint disease, complex joint reconstruction, and minimally invasive surgical techniques for hip and knee conditions.

Dr Gursel graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 1992 and completed his early medical training at Concord Repatriation Hospital in Sydney. He subsequently undertook Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) accredited orthopaedic training through the Sydney Northside Scheme, gaining experience across several major hospitals including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Westmead Hospital, The Mater Hospital, Sydney Adventist Hospital, and Canberra Hospital. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopaedics in 2001.

Following completion of his specialist training, Dr Gursel undertook advanced arthroplasty fellowships in both Australia and the United Kingdom, including training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, the Royal United Hospital in Bath, and the Avon Orthopaedic Unit in Bristol.

Dr Gursel has been actively involved in professional organisations and advisory groups. He has served as a member of the Federal Government Health and Ageing Hip Advisory Committee and currently holds roles with Standards Australia and the Arthroplasty Society of Australia. He is also Chair of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He is the Head of Department of Orthopaedics at The Sydney Adventist Hospital.
