Mr Al-Amin Kassam is as experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital. He is Co-Clinical Lead at the South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC) based at the Nightingale hospital Exeter.

He completed his medical degree at Guys, Kings, and St Thomas’ School of Medicine, earning his qualification in 2005. His foundational surgical training took place at Guys and St Thomas’, Cambridge, and Exeter, followed by higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the South West Peninsula region. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016. Throughout his career, Mr Kassam has garnered extensive experience in orthopaedic surgery, having worked in prominent medical centres in Exeter, Oxford, Plymouth, and Torbay.
Mr Kassam further honed his skills through a complex and revision hip and knee fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, where he developed a keen interest in bone and joint infections. Subsequently, he returned to Exeter to serve as a Ling fellow within the Exeter hip unit before assuming the role of Consultant in Exeter in 2018. His specialisation lies in complex primary and revision hip arthroplasty.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Kassam has a keen interest in medical leadership. He was selected for the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Clinical Leaders Programme and has achieved a Level 7 certificate in Leadership and Management from the Chartered Management Institute.
