Im Jahr 1983 erhielt Dr. Walter ihre Approbation als Ärztin und ihren Doktortitel, und sie heiratete noch im selben Jahr. Anschließend arbeitete sie als Assistenzärztin in der Neurochirurgie, Anästhesie und schließlich in der HNO-Klinik des Klinikums Nürnberg. 1989 bestand sie erfolgreich ihre Facharztprüfung und freute sich über die Geburt ihrer ersten Tochter. Später kamen 1991 und 1994 ihre beiden weiteren Kinder zur Welt.
Im Laufe ihrer Karriere sprang Dr. Walter häufig als Vertretung in verschiedenen HNO-Praxen ein. 1993 gründete sie eine HNO-Gemeinschaftspraxis in Nürnberg-Langwasser, wo sie bis 2002 praktizierte. Zu dieser Zeit wechselte sie in das HNO-Zentrum in der Innenstadt von Nürnberg. In den letzten vier Jahren ihrer Tätigkeit dort arbeitete sie auch in einer Zweigpraxis im Süden von Nürnberg.
Seit März 2014 ist Dr. Walter in einer Gemeinschaftspraxis in der Königstraße in Nürnberg tätig, wo sie ihre Fachkenntnisse weiterhin zur Verfügung stellt. Neben ihrem Schwerpunkt auf HNO-Medizin hat sie sich auch intensiv mit Akupunktur und naturheilkundlichen Behandlungen beschäftigt, die einen wichtigen Teil ihrer fortlaufenden Fortbildung und Weiterentwicklung darstellen. Als Anerkennung für ihr Engagement in diesen Bereichen erhielt sie 2004 und 2006 entsprechende Zertifizierungen.
Darüber hinaus trägt Dr. Walter aktiv zum Fortschritt des medizinischen Wissens bei, indem sie seit 2002 als Untersuchungsärztin an verschiedenen klinischen Studien teilnimmt.
