Mr
Mr Thomas Handley
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
About
He qualified with honours in dentistry at Newcastle University and again with honours in medicine and surgery at the University of Dundee. Following his basic and higher surgical training in the West of Scotland, he undertook a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and reconstruction in the Ninth Peoples Hospital in Shanghai, China – which is one of the busiest oral cancer units in the world.
During his time in NHS Lothian he has developed a sentinel node biopsy service for head and neck cancer, as well as developing the use of 3D technology and planning in oral and maxillofacial surgery for the department.
He provides consultation and treatments for all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, salivary gland surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, maxillofacial trauma and facial skin cancer surgery.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
