About

Miss Tania De Silva is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. She specialises in the surgical management of breast disease, with particular expertise in oncoplastic breast surgery, combining cancer treatment with reconstructive techniques to achieve optimal oncological and aesthetic outcomes. She also assesses and treats a wide range of benign breast conditions, including breast lumps, mastitis, and nipple discharge, and provides well-woman breast checks and family history assessments.

Miss De Silva qualified in medicine from the University of Bristol and completed her surgical training within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. She was subsequently competitively selected for advanced training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at Charing Cross Hospital, undertaking the inaugural fellowship in the programme, which is now recognised as part of the Trainee Interface Group Fellowships. She was also awarded the Gerald Townsley Fellowship and a European Society of Surgical Oncology Fellowship, enabling her to visit specialist breast units in Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro. Her professional qualifications include MBChB, FRCS (England), and a Master of Advanced Surgical Practice from Cardiff University.

Within her NHS role, Miss De Silva previously served as Clinical Lead for the breast service and currently leads on audit and clinical governance. She is actively involved in medical education as an educational supervisor for breast trainees and teaches on regional higher surgical training programmes. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the Association of Breast Surgery.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
