Breast Surgery
About
Miss De Silva qualified in medicine from the University of Bristol and completed her surgical training within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. She was subsequently competitively selected for advanced training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at Charing Cross Hospital, undertaking the inaugural fellowship in the programme, which is now recognised as part of the Trainee Interface Group Fellowships. She was also awarded the Gerald Townsley Fellowship and a European Society of Surgical Oncology Fellowship, enabling her to visit specialist breast units in Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro. Her professional qualifications include MBChB, FRCS (England), and a Master of Advanced Surgical Practice from Cardiff University.
Within her NHS role, Miss De Silva previously served as Clinical Lead for the breast service and currently leads on audit and clinical governance. She is actively involved in medical education as an educational supervisor for breast trainees and teaches on regional higher surgical training programmes. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the Association of Breast Surgery.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
