Earlier in her career, she worked as a General Practitioner in both hospital and emergency department settings, gaining broad-based experience in acute care, ENT, and infectious diseases, including involvement in HIV and tuberculosis programmes. She has also undertaken WHO and UNDP-certified training in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
She obtained her MBBS from Moscow University in 1998 and later completed her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sudan in 2014. She has also achieved Part 1 of the MRCOG from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK and holds a diploma in urogynaecology and pelvic floor reconstruction.
