About
Dr Preston studied Medicine at the University of Southampton School of Medicine. During this time, they also completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences. Following the completion of their medical degree, Dr Preston undertook surgical training for four years. They then spent a year working as a clinical skills tutor in medical education. Dr Preston then moved into histopathology, undertaking a specialty registrar position on the Wessex histopathology training scheme. Dr Preston's experience in cardiothoracic pathology was gained in Southampton and at the Royal Brompton Hospital. In 2005, Dr Preston became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2011, they became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. In 2013, Dr Preston was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. Dr Preston is a Registered Medical Practitioner with the General Medical Council. They are also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology, the European Society of Pathology, the Association for European Cardiovascular Pathology, the Association of Pulmonary Pathologists and the UK Cardiac Pathology Network. Dr Preston is also the President-Elect of the Association for European Cardiovascular Pathology.
