About Mr Stephen Dalgleish

Mr Stephen Dalgleish is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in Tayside, specialising in both non-operative and surgical treatments for knee and hip conditions. His expertise includes keyhole knee surgery (arthroscopy), knee ligament reconstructions, meniscus and cartilage repair, patella stabilisation, realignment surgery, partial and total knee replacements, and total hip replacements. He employs the latest enhanced recovery techniques to maximise patient outcomes and experiences. Mr Dalgleish graduated from the University of Dundee in 2007 and completed his orthopaedic specialist training in the East of Scotland Rotation. He pursued further subspecialty fellowship training in Western Australia through the prestigious Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship program, focusing on sports, trauma, and reconstructive knee surgery. He also completed the Hollywood Arthroplasty Fellowship, specialising in primary and revision knee and hip replacements. In 2022, he was awarded the BOSTAA travelling fellowship, which took him to three renowned orthopaedic centres in North America and Canada, where he expanded his knowledge and collaborated with leading reconstructive knee and hip surgeons. Mr Dalgleish has previously served as the Head of the Orthopaedic Department at NHS Tayside. He remains actively involved in the education and training of medical students, orthopaedic trainees, and qualified surgeons. Formerly the Musculoskeletal Lead for Undergraduate Teaching at the University of Dundee Medical School, he now holds the position of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the Master of Orthopaedics (MChOrth) course and has been the course director of an arthroscopic skills course for training surgeons in keyhole surgery techniques. His research contributions include several peer-reviewed publications on knee, hip, and trauma surgery and he was the regional principal investigator (PI) for an NIHR-Funded study on patella instability. Dedicated to patient-centred care, Mr Dalgleish has treated patients ranging from recreational athletes to international professionals. He believes in an individualised, evidence-based approach to enhance patient symptoms, experience, recovery, and rehabilitation.

"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
